The world of Tribulum is dark and edgy. It teeters on the edge of the abyss. It is at the gateway of a new era in human history. The last days before judgement. According to prophecy, the last days are preceded by a time called the "Tribulation". This is a period of increasing unrest, troubling events and tragedies. This is a period of increasing unrest, troubling events and tragedies. Prior to Tribulation, there is a time of increasing agitation, as the "birth pangs" that point to the impending birth, these times are intense, but don't hold a candle to what is coming later.

After this period, there is predicted three and a half years of peace, followed by three and a half years of the most terrible, evil and horrible wars imaginable. The gateway event of the Tribulation is considered to be the moment that the Anti-christ announces his presence and takes authority over the world. During this time there are expected to be mass persecutions of true believers while the rest of the world revels in a time of peace hitherto unknown to mankind.

It all falls apart, however, midway through the seven years. Wars break out. Evil spreads like a plague.

Leading up to this, however, many believe there will be a time that rivals the evil of the latter part of the Tribulation. A time of growing evil, as Satan gathers his forces, prepares to make his move and positions his playing pieces for the final battle.

The word "tribulum" is latin for a device used to shake grain from a wheat stalk. Sheaves of grain were harvested and brought to the mill. The tribulum was beaten against them, separating the wheat from the chaff—the grain from the straw. Indeed, the whole concept of the Tribulation, is a time when the earth is battered and beleaguered as the believers and shaken from their place in the world and removed from the unbelievers in the world. It is a time of trials, temptations, terror and testing.

Some are of the opinion that the Scriptures present evidence that the Believers will be removed from Earth prior to the Tribulation. Others think that Believers will endure the Tribulation, else the example of threshing the wheat would not make sense if the grain (Believers) was already absent. None of this matters because your game will not take place in the Tribulation itself. Rather, it will take place at the 11th hour.

It's one minute before midnight. The end is nigh. This is your last chance to help save a life. More importantly, it is your last chance to save someone's eternal soul.

You will be playing a Saint, a member of a cell-based organization called "Sector 9". Your only knowledge of the organization is that of your fellow Saints and your cell-leader, or Deacon. Deacons only know one, or possibly two, other Deacons—and they know nothing of other cell's membership. Occasionally a Deacon will also know one Elder. Elders know only one or two Elders, one or two Deacons and may have knowledge of other levels, but this information is never shared. It is an organizational structure designed to be extremely difficult to penetrate.

Sector 9 is committed to the protection of humanity from the demonic forces that have been unleashed upon it. They "stand in the gap" between humanity and Satan. They "stand in the gap" between humanity and a wrathful and vengeful God. They are called to intercede. Sometimes in prayer. Most often, in action.

As God said in Ezekiel 22:30: And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.

As a member of Sector 9, you have no official power whatsoever. Most police forces will consider you a "terrorist". Most churches are dens of spies for the demons and for the police. You stand against the tyranny of evil—but you stand alone. No one will appreciate what you do. You will receive no honors for your actions. Most will actively hate you and claim that you are evil.

You fight most effectively "on your knees". When you pray, you are communing with Almighty God, who has called you into this role. It is to Him alone that you owe your allegiance.

The church has fallen away and become Apostate. It is an agent of evil, itself. You cannot trust it. You cannot trust its membership. Most of the time the church does little more than tarnish the image of Christ and run God's name through the muck.

You will hunt down the demoniacs. You will find their infestations. You will remove the blight. You will cleanse it. You will rescue those affected and ensconce them safely into places that can minister to their needs. Your highest calling is not to fight and destroy, those are typically only means to an end—your highest calling is to minister to those who are spiritually endangered.

Remember what Paul said in Ephesians 6:12: For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

You will fight—but spiritually. Sometimes your spiritual fights may require physical elements, but the real battle takes place in the realm of the Spirit.
